02.26.10

Every so often, I just get these feelings that I need to go to a specific store. Usually when this happens, I find something we have been needing, or have been looking for, or something that would be a great birthday present for someone.

Got the feeling again today, that I should go into the thrift store by the bank. It was close by and mom and I had just talked about how the kids needed jeans, so I stopped in. Checked out the jeans. NOT ONE PAIR. In EITHER kid's size. Unheard of. So I walked around to see what else was there. Found a glass pitcher for mom, who hates the plastic ones.

And then I found Nessy.
It's funny how things expand to other parts of one's life....

Yeah. It's cold.

Today is the release date for Josh Thompson's new CD, Way Out Here. I have talked to Josh a couple of time on Twitter - I first found out about him from JMC - Josh wrote "Growing up is Getting Old". Then I saw his video for "Beer on the Table" on GAC - loved the song the first time I heard it. It was really exciting when the local radio stations started playing it on air.
For those fans that preordered the CD through his website, Josh autographed the CD insert.
One of these days I hope to see him in concert.

02.21.10

Still snowing...

And keep in mind, the driveway was shoveled the other day, so this is all new snow...

02.20.10

More snow....

An interesting photo, I think... I had the automatic focus turned off (since it can't focus on the snowflakes) and caught the car out of focus too.. helps portray a little bit, I think, of how hard it was snowing..

02.19.10

My current books... I read the Tale of Two Demon Slayers last night. It is the third in the series, about the accidental demon slayer... one of the funnest books I have read in a while.

Stated the Pelican Brief the other day, then left it at home, so started on the Testament - almost done with that one, and will go back to the Pelican Brief when done. It is not uncommon for me to be reading 3 or 4 books at a time - like my mother, I have a voracious appetite for books.

02.18.10

Yet another photo from work.

Patches likes to sit by the door that separates the front of the clinic from the back. She will sit and wait for someone to open it. Once you do, it is only a few minutes before she is sitting and waiting again to go back to the other side. LOL.

02.17.10

This is my road after it was plowed. Now, keep in mind, the road is very flat - there is no hill on the left side of the road. It is all simply snow.

02.16.10

Need to get the last few days of photos uploaded. Should have done some while I was at home yesterday, but I didn't get very far. Why, you may ask? My GT addiction.

Ghost Trappers is a game on Facebook (which is the biggest time waster in the world, I know). In Ghost Trappers, the player is an agent for SCOTCH, the Secret Corporation of Trapping Castle Hauntings in Virtual Scotland. Using traps with candle circles and whiskey for bait, the goal is to snap as many photos of ghosts as you can. Some ghosts are easy to catch.. others not so much. There is a huge spot on Wikipedia dedicated to the game, which makes it a little easier to figure out what to do next.

There is a rather large community of people that like to play this game. And while some are snots and just out for themselves (ie. resellers), most of the ones I have found to talk with are very nice. I have been hanging out in the GT Chatroom, which is a great place to find answers to questions, or just get a bit silly. I've been adopted into their virtual family, and it's nice to have a place to go to talk about the game.

Hera in the snow. We've gotten  a lot of snow this week. Makes it hard to get out to town.

These are some of my collectibles. I collect the letter J. The cat is a funny halloween piece that I picked up somwhere. The hand is cast iron, and great for holding necklaces and things, inclusing the extra bookrings for mini albums. The green Making Memories ribbon is from CHA in Chicago last year. The fairy is also cast iron, and something I've had for a while now. The shot glass is from a friend's wedding. The opal  earrings and the pearl necklace were found at an antique store. The little pink skull earrings were bought for Halloween

02.11.10

Patrick wanted a new picture for his facebook profile - so I took this one today.

The scariest part? If you look really close, just above his lip, the boy is already starting to get a little fuzzy 'stache there!

AH How did I get old enough to have a son with a moustache?!?!

02.10.10

Went to the bookstore to look for more Cate Tiernan books. Didn't find many, but I did find this:

Cool, huh?

This is what my road looked like when I was going home this morning

02.08.10

Today's photo was taken at work - after it had started snowing again. Instead of the heavy, wet snow from earlier today, this is light, shiny sparkly snow. It was really neat to see all the individual snowflakes. So when I went outside to look for my book to read on my dinner break (which I had apparently left at home), I snapped some photos of the snowflakes on the rail.

Which will be uploaded tomorrow if I go  home. The roads are not great right now, and I'm not in any hurry to end up in a ditch.

02.06.10

My original photo of the day was going to be what I had for lunch. Then I caught this - Patches (the cat) and AJ (the snake) looking at each other through the mesh top. Patches likes to lie on the top of the cage because it is warm. AJ is a corn snake, and called AJ because he was named after his predecessor Apollo - this is Apollo Junior. Though he is not nearly as friendly as the original Apollo..

02.05.10

Bladder stones that I took out of a dog during surgery today.

02.04.10

This is where I sleep when I stay at work. The mattress leaning against the counter is a bit of a bone of contention. It belongs on the trundle beneath the bed. But other people that use it prefer to just shove it in the room instead of putting it back where it belongs. So I just shoved it to the side and left it.
The pink blanket on the bed is my all time favorite blanket. It is microfiber, very very soft, and super warm.

02.03.10

Did a bit of walking around town today, since I was carless. Way more than I wanted to, considering nothing is that close by, and it was about 21 degrees outside. Stopped for lunch at the Village Inn (which we used to fondly call the Village Idiot when I was in school). Got myself some hot chocolate to keep warm. And found out it was Free Pie Day! (hooray!!)

02.02.10

I downloaded iTunes tonight, after resisting for so long - primarily because of these two songs.
One is the acoustic version of Hurry Home - the tempo is a little faster than I'm used to, but I love the guitar melody, and, of course, Jason's voice.
The other song is by a fairly new group that I found via Twitter and Patrick Davis (@PDMusic). Shawn Fisher is the lead singer, and he and the guys (the Jukebox Gypsies) just released their first song (Open Your Eyes) on itunes today. I really like his music, and I hope they go far. They can be found on twitter (@thisisfisher) or on their website

When pigs fly...

Found this little guy at the grocery store one night. It's really an antenna topper for the car, but I have it sitting on my desk. Seems fitting.
